“Mother of literature”
- The Department of Tamil was started in the year 2000 with 1 staff members. At present, there are 9 staff members working in the department. Handling classes for all the UG 1st and 2nd year students.
- Out of 9 staffs, Eight of them completed doctorates and one staffs are pursuing PhD, Two staff is qualified with UGC NET, One staff is qualified with SET.
- In Tamil Department, we produced 6 Ph.D holders. And 20 M.Phil The department faculties have published 100 articles in reputed national and international journals.
Uniqueness of Department
- Our Tamil department mainly focuses and improves the Oratorical, Essay writing and Poetry writing skills of students. We have fully qualified and experienced faculty members in our department. 8 faculties are completed their Ph.D. and 3 with NET /SLET.
- We have produced 7 PhD and 20 M.Phil scholars successfully. At present 14 PhD and 5 M.Phil scholars are pursuing their degrees under our guidance.
- Each year we are conducting special debates and kaviyarangam for students and faculties. In order to expose and develop their skills.
- We feel proud to state that our department is the first, to organized national level and international level seminar in Nandha Arts and Science College. Till now we have conducted 3 national and 1 international level conferences.

- To compare Tamil language and literature with world literature and promote Tamil at par with and above them.

Alaigal Magazine
“New horizon to paint beyond the imagination”.
Each and every year our association releases the magazine titled “ALAIGAL”. It comprises of the poems, articles and essays written by the students and staff from various departments. Totally we had published 6 magazines.It is aid to enrich their hidden talents of the students.
