Library The college provides an excellent Library facility to gratify the needs of both the staff and students. The primary aim of the library is to support the students of the Institution for enriching good knowledge in various subjects. It helps them to widen their outlook on life. It has volume of Books, Magazines, Project Reports, Question Bank Volumes, rich collection of Management, Science and Technology Books, Journals and Dailies. The following dailies are available in our library: Tamil Newspapers – Dhinathanthi, Dhinamalar, Kalaikathir, Dhinamani, Dhinakaran. Hindi Newspapers – Batrika. Malayalam Newspapers – Malayala Manorama,Mathruboomi. English Newspapers- The Hindu, New Indian Express, Business Line. The library is updated with CDs, which are subject-related articles from journals and magazines.
University Question Papers are bounded and kept separately for reference purpose. Materials for Competitive Examinations like TOEFL,IELTS, Civil Services Examination and GRE are also available. The computerized library helps the students and staff members to have an easy access on any type of library document rapidly. The Bar-coding system is adopted to make the circulation process, an easier one. The calm atmosphere of the library is conducive for reading. It can accommodate more than 100 students at a time. The well-equipped library is frequently updated by adding more books and number of journals on the relevant subjects. The Librarian, Mr. D.Mahalingam participated in the following programmes: National Level Seminar on “Strategic Management: Opportunities & Challenges in Post LPG Era”, conducted at Periyar Institute of Management Studies – Periyar University. A Seminar on “Digital Repositories Service – e-learning for everyone”, conducted at Gobi Arts & Science College, Gobi. National Level Seminar on “Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Library Service - A Global Scenario.”, conducted at Gobi Arts & Science College, Gobi. He also acted as a Rapporteur in this seminar. A National Conference on “Changing Paradigms of Librarianship”, held at School of Library Information Science – Alagappa University. LIBRARY RULES
1. All the students of the college are entitled to borrow books from the College library by applying in the prescribed form. 2. Every student can borrow not more than two books at a time from the Library.
3. Every student is entitled to keep a book for ten days from the date of issue.
4. Every book borrowed from the library should be returned on the date marked on the date slip. It will be reissued only once to the same person for a further period of one week, if it has not been applied for in the mean time. Time book should be shown to the Librarian at the time of renewal.
5. The Librarian may recall any book at any time even before the expiry of the normal period.
6. If a student fails to return a book on the due date a fine of Rs.2/- per day will be levied, Sundays and holidays being excluded.
7. Absence from college will not ordinarily be admitted as an excuse for delay in the return of books.
8. Students are required to use all Library books with care. Marking or underlining or annotating in books is forbidden. Disciplinary action will be taken against students damaging books in any manner.
9. The Library will be kept open on all working days between 8.30a.m.and 5.30p.m.
10. All payments including fine regarding the Library shall be paid in the college offices and receipts be shown to the Librarian.
11. Reference books and journals will not be lent out.
12. Perfect silence and decorum should be maintained in the Library. The Library may refuse to issue books to those who violate the rules.
13. A Student who has lost his ticket should at once report the matter to the Librarian. Duplicate tickets will be issued on payment of a penalty of Rs.50/- per ticket.
14. A Student failing to return the book or to pay the fine imposed on him and other charges to the library will not be allowed to borrow books, till the book already on due from him is returned and fine paid. Cases of such failures will be reported to the Principal for disciplinary action.
15. No transfer certificate or conduct certificate shall be issued to a student until the books have been returned and dues outstanding against the student cleaned | |  |
