Department of Physical Education

The Department generates distinguished Sportsmen under the headship of   Mr.K.Saravanan. It is equipped with all indoor and outdoor facilities for the Staff & Students. The Students are regularly selected as members of university team in various disciplines and consistently winning laurels for the college. The students’ achievements in sports are given below.
The Erode District Athletic Association conducted 9^th Erode District Junior Athletics Championships on 9^th July 2010 and 10^th July 2010 at V.O.C. Park Stadium, Erode. In 1500 mts track and field event for men’s under 20 years category, C.N.Balamurugan of II B.Com (CA) secured the III place in 1500mts.
The College Hockey team won the ILLAVATTAM District Level Youth Hockey Tournament held at Kongu Engineering College from 23^rd July 2010 to 27^th July 2010, organised by The Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu in association with Tamilnadu Aids Control Society. The team subsequently got qualified for the State Level Youth Carnival Hockey Tournament held at Chennai between 09^th and 12^th August 2010.
Mr.C.N.Balamurugan of II B.Com (CA) won the III place in 800 mts and Mr.K.S.Suresh, I B.Sc(CDF) won 3^rd place in the 100mts ILLAVATTAM District Level Youth Carnival - 2010–201, organised by The Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu in association with Tamilnadu Aids Control Society.
SNMV College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore organized 19^th Inter Collegiate level Road Race-2010 on 3^rd Aug 2010. In this competitive race, C.N.Balamurugan of II B.Com (CA) got 14^th Place out of 200 participants.
The Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu and Tamilnadu Aids Control Society jointly organized ILLAVATTAM – State Level Youth Carnival from 10^th Aug 2010 to 12^th Aug 2010 at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai, in which 32 district hockey teams participated under knock out basis. The hockey team of the college entered semi finals and lost against Loyola College Hockey Team, Chennai, via Tie-Breaker.
Nethaji Sports Club conducted State Level Hockey Tournament on 14^th Aug 2010 and 15^th Aug 2010 at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Namakkal. The college hockey team participated and lost in quarterfinals against Tamilnadu Special Police Hockey team.
Bharathiar University, Coimbatore organized Inter Collegiate Level Cross Country Race at Sree Saraswathi Thiyagaraja College of Arts and Science, Pollachi on 9^th Aug 2010, in which C.N.Balamurugan of II B.Com (CA) of NASC secured 20^th Place out of 200 participants.
Bharathiar University conducted an Inter Collegiate Level Foot Ball D Zone Tournament at Kamadenu Arts & Science College, Sathiyamangalam from 10^th Aug 2010 to 12^th Aug 2010. In this heated competition the college team won the 3rd place.
An Inter Collegiate Level Cricket (Men) D Zone Tournament was conducted by Sri Vasavi College, Erode from 13^th Sep 2010 to 25^th Sep 2010. 14 colleges participated in the Knock Out Basis Tournament. The college team won the II place and also got selected for Inter Zone Cricket Tournament, conducted by S.N..R. College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore.
Jamal Mohamed College, Trichy conducted South India Level Inter Collegiate Hockey Tournament for the Khajamoideen Trophy from 12^th Sep 2010 to 16^th Sep 2010 at Trichy. The Hockey team participated in the above said Tournament.
An Inter Collegiate Level Hockey (Men) tournament was conducted by Vidhya Sagar College of Arts & Science, Udumalpet from 27^th Sep 2010 to 30^th Sep 2010. 22 colleges participated in the Knock Out cum League Basis Tournament. The hockey team members rocked and won. They also got selected for 18^th Champion College Prize Money Hockey Tournament, conducted by Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.
Bharathiar University conducted an Inter Zone Cricket Tournament at S.N.R. Arts and Science College, Coimbatore from
11^th Oct 2010 to 19^th Oct 2010 under Knock Out cum League Basis. The students of the college won the III place.
An All India Inter University South Zone Hockey Tournament was conducted by Bharathiar University, Coimbatore from
17^th Nov 2010 to 21th Nov 2010.

1. Encourages all the students to take part at various events providing all necessary playing equipments.

2. Conducting the intramural competitions and college annual sports meet are the regular features of the house.

1. All the men and women teams are encouraged to take part in Bharathiar University inter collegiate tournaments.

2. Our students are consistently winning the medals in intercollegiate Athletic meet

National Service Scheme

Besides the academic activities our college inculcates service mindedness in the students by involving them in many social service activities. An NSS unit has been functioning in our college for the past 5 years. Several camps in rural areas were organized to carryout social service activities.

Youth Red Cross and Red Ribbon Club of the college render distinguished service activities, under the able guidance of Mr.M.Ramachandran, Asst.Prof.in Tamil. Both the units are functioning in the college with 100 members, volunteered from different classes.
The members of Youth Red Cross actively involve themselves by frequently organizing service activities like, Blood Donation and Blood Identification Campus, in collaboration with the hospitals.
Blood Donation Camp was conducted on 21^st July 2010 at the college auditorium. 120 students actively participated and donated their blood.
Seminar on HIV Awareness programme was held at the college auditorium on 3/1/2011.
“The World Drug Rehabilitation Awareness Rally” was held on 13^th July 2010 at Government Hospital, Perundurai. The rally was steered by Dr.G.Ragunathan, M.B.B.S., D.P.H., Health Section, Erode.
Seminar on “The World Drug Rehabilitation Awareness” was channeled by Dr.K.Shivamurugan M.B.B.S., on 14^th July 2010 at the college auditorium.
