About the Department

The Department of Mathematics was started during the year 2003 and upgraded as a PG Department in the same year. Guest Lectures and Periodical Seminars have been conducted during every academic year to help the students to update their knowledge and skills. The department is also giving counseling to the students to motivate their studies and overcome the difficulties faced by them during their course of studies.

The department is teaching mathematics and statistics as an allied Courses in various other programs offered in the department of Computer Science and Applications, Software Systems, Electronics, Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Commerce and Management. The department gives importance for the development of the personality of the individual and makes them a worthy citizen of our great country. Towards accomplishing the above objectives, the department has sound infrastructural facilities in addition to a highly motivated team of faculty members. The department organizes regular seminars and various value added programs for the holistic development of the students.

Apart from academic coaching, the Department also offers special coaching for various competitive examinations and gives coaching in logical and analytical reasoning and helps the students in data processing. Special training is given to all the students on data analysis with SPSS (Statistical Packages for Social Science) package. In this way, t he Mathematics department is also supporting Placement and Training Cell to enable the students placed in corporate and educational institutions .

Diploma Courses

The most important part are Latex, MATLAB, Mathematica, MS-Office, C, C++, RDBMS, Visual Basic, Internet & Java, Oracle and Diploma in Operation Research Papers I, II, III & Project Work. It provides better scope to obtain jobs such as designing, graphics, etc.

A pass in HSC / +2 (Any Maths Group)

Lab Facilities

Computer and Physics laboratory is well equipped with all the required facilities for the students through out the academic year. Lab is open throughout the college hours which makes it easy for the students to access it any time. The computer laboratory is equipped with imported Intel 2 GB RAM work station with land server, Net server. Internet connection through very high speed 4 MB radio frequency is operating round the clock, within the college premises to help the students and staff to acquire extensive knowledge.

Department Activities

The Department offers U.G. and P.G.courses and glows under the headship of Mr.A.K.Velusamy and with 11 enthusiastic faculty members. It was established in the year 2003. Part-Time M.Phil,Research Programme was also introduced.

Ms.S.Nishanthi of B.Sc., Maths(C.A.) secured IX Rank in the University Exam.

Ms.Latha Makeswari of M.Sc., Maths (C.A.) triumphed in the University Exam by securing VI University Rank.

The Department Association Magnum Opus has been conducting State Level Seminar for the past six years, to enhance the knowledge of the students in Mathematics.

Every year the department conducts Industrial Visit for the students to acquaint with outside environment.

Communication classes are conducted for PG Final Year students, thrice in a week.

Mrs.L.Anitha, Asst. Prof., presented a Paper entitled Formation of New connected Spaces in UGC sponsored National Level Seminar at Nirmala College for Women, Coimbatore.

Mrs.P.Kousalya, Asst. Prof., presented a Paper entitled A Study on Fuzzy Line Graphs Under Isomorphism at Vellalar College for Women,Erode.

The out gone P.G. student Ms.T.Geetha acquired her Ph.D., in Periyar University and now pursuing her Post Doctorate in Group Representation Theory in Sydney University, Australia.

The out gone P.G. student Mr.R.Suresh is now pursuing his Ph.D., in Fluid Dynamics in Madras University , Chennai.

P.Sathish,P.Krishnan,M.Sathya,R.Saravanan,T.Sangeetha,M.Bharathi,P.Brindhasri,P.Rajeshwaran,K.Raj,Prakash of I and II MSc., Maths participated in MatLab at Vivekanandha College of Arts and Science College for Women, Tiruchengode.

TNSF-YSF Association conducted Science Project Selection at Arul Anandhar College, Madurai. The department students presented 2 projects and those 2 projects got selected among 50 projects. The following students displayed the projects:

Ms.S.Nithya , Ms.K.Renuka, Mr.Parthiban, Mr.Bala Subramaniam Final B.Sc., Maths ( C.A. ).

Two days State Level Seminar andInter Collegiate meet were conductedBy our department on 4 th and 5 th of Feb 2011.

One day trip to Veegaland,Cochin was arranged by the departmenton 22-12-2010 with six staff members and 52 students.

The departments Alumni Association conducted Get Together function on 16/01/2011 in our college campus .
